Top 5 beautiful places to swim naturally in Northern Territory

Every day, during our trip we chose somewhere we could go for a swim. My favorite places were in waterfall pools, rockholes, rivers and beaches.

Here are my top 5 places we swam throughout the Northern Territory:

# 1 Edith Falls upper & lower Pools (technically two beautiful places in the one convenient location!) - Nitmiluk National Park

#2 Buley Rockhole - Litchfield National Park

#3 Wangi Falls - Litchfield National Park

#4 Maguk Falls - Kakadu National Park

#5 Mataranka Thermal Pool

There were so many other natural places to swim along the way which didn't make the cut including Darwin Waterfront and Katherine Gorge River (with a tour group only) and other managed swimming pools including Katherine Gorge Caravan Park and Darwin Wavepool.

There were also many natural waterways we would have stopped for a swim but couldn't, Tolmer and Florence Falls in Litchfield National Park (boardwalk construction), Jim Jam and Twin Falls in Kakadu National Park (flooding and crocodile risk) Knott's Crossing in Katherine (time), Bitter Springs in Mataranka (drought) and Casuarina Free Beach in Darwin (too many crabs!).

We made it our mission to swim at least once in every place we went to and mostly achieved our family goal.
